Neurological Rehabilitation
The foundation of neurological rehabilitation is rooted in the concept of neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural pathways and reshaping existing ones. How does one do this?
This is where we come in! Neurological Rehabilitation is a specialized form of physiotherapy. It utilizes targeted exercise, and activity to promote recovery and improve function in those affected by neurological conditions through the process of neuroplasticity.
Many neurological conditions can make performing everyday tasks and activities quite challenging due to changes in mobility, and coordination. The aim of neurological rehabilitation is to improve function, reduce debilitating symptoms, and improve quality of life, by restoring and/or maintaining an individual’s ability to move and perform physical tasks.
Your physiotherapist will evaluate things such as your mobility, range of motion, coordination, strength, and balance. Treatment may include manual therapy, use of neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT), functional retraining, strengthening exercises, stretching, gait retraining, and/or balance exercises.

We have been clients at InFocus with Colleen since summer 2020. We were seeking a physical therapist who had an understanding of Parkinson’s. Colleen has exceeded our expectations for her thorough initial assessment and with each follow up treatment. She is excellent at adapting programs specific to needs, remains positive, listens, and offers modifications are functional and can be implemented. Many thanks to Colleen!

I have been a patient at InFocus since I had a stroke and Colleen has been an incredible help in my progress. Originally I saw her at the Georgetown location but when she moved to the Cambridge location I changed to go to her in the new location even though I live in Georgetown. She is very positive and she assesses what I need to improve different aspects of my condition. When I tell her of difficulties I am encountering with the use of my left arm or leg for different things, she is very creative in coming up with suggestions which invariably help the situation. I absolutely know that she has helped me achieve some normality in my life. I am really happy I am able to see her.
